Biology is the required sophomore science course for Visalia Unified School District. A year of biology fulfills the University of California requirements for a laboratory science as well as the districts life science laboratory requirement for graduation. At El Diamante, we are recommending taking chemistry prior to biology

Biology resources include a current Biology Course Calendar, Course Outline, and biology links on the library page. Standard based notes, worksheets, review sheets, and labs for Biology can be accessed using the pulldown menu just down the page. Many of the documents are in Adobe PDF format. There are also Interactive Practice Activities for review. PowerPoint's used in our classes are also available. There is more information on our Essential Standards and Benchmarks, for those who are curious about the California Standards movement in science and how our district has interpreted them.

OFFICE HOURS:  Monday/Wednesday at lunch and Tuesday/Thursday before school.

Students and parents can access grades through our online database.

Keep track of your grades! Students and parents can access grades using the school'sOnline Grades. I update the grades as quickly as I get assignments graded and recorded, which is always within a day or two of the due date. You will need a user ID and a password that is provided by the school. I cannot provide these to you.

acrobat banner Course notes, homework, labs, review sheets and other important documents can be found here as Acrobat PDF (PortableDocumentFormat) files. To view and print these files, you will need to install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader program on your computer. If you don't have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, the program can be downloaded from the Adobe Website. Documents are posted in PDF format for several reasons. First, it saves download time for you and server space for us. Second, the PDF documents are true replicas of documents used in class and are printer friendly in a way that web pages are not.
